Haji Mohammed Sadiq lovingly known as Haji Saab was a very well known figure in the Scottish Muslim community and with Muslim religious leaders in the UK His heart was with the Glaswegian community he was one of the founders of Glasgow central mosque while working with the mosque he realized that Muslim funerals were being handled by non Muslims and the methods that they employed were against our sharia law and traditions for this reason he decided it was time for a change this is when he founded The Pakistan Muslim Welfare Society (Glasgow) Alhumdullillah the society started dealing with all Muslim funerals whether the burial was in Scotland or Pakistan eliminating any non Muslim contact with the deceased including collecting the deceased from hospital, home or wherever the need was. Giving gusal, preparing the deceased for the next abode, coffins transportation or repatriation to Pakistan and acquiring burial grounds in Glasgow currently the society has over a thousand members whose needs the society has been fulfilling for the past 50 years.

Haji Saab went on to be Chairman of Glasgow Central mosque seeing to the needs of over 35000 Muslims he was loved and respected by the entire local community whatever their beliefs. Haji Saab was a fair and just individual who adhered to his religious obligations so people even came to him with their personal problems. He was appreciated and respected within the Scottish Parliament combining efforts to eliminate new affairs arising within the growing Muslim community but politics was something that he was not to keen on despite being offered a position with the SNP. Haji Saab was a person who disapproved of photographs and publicity.

Haji Saab has been involved in many relief projects in Pakistan. The Naddar Khannum welfare Trust was set up by Haji Saab in KPK Pakistan 30 years ago. The trust along with Glasgow Central Mosque was the first to reach the people of Balakot when the entire town was wiped out after a massive earthquake resulting in homelessness and orphans the trust to this current day houses educates clothes and fulfills the needs of over 500 orphans may Allah keep this growing. Haji Saabs other achievements are worldly and we think that Haji Saab would prefer if we ignore them may Allah give Haji Saab a high rank in Jannat al Firdous for all his efforts AMEEN!…..
